The 3rd season of the SA20 is starting from 9 January, 2025 and the final will play on 8 February at Johannesburg Cricket Stadium in South Africa. Almost every country has started its own league after watching the success and money of Indian Premier League (IPL). SA20 league belongs to South Africa Cricket Board but as per the sources all the franchise teams are bought by Indian business tycoons. Again this league will be a competition amongst all 6 teams and every team has announced SA20 squads for this mega league.

SA20 Squads and star Players

Sunrisers Eastern Cape was the winner of first season in 2023. In final match, Sunrisers Eastern Cape chased the easy target of 136 runs in 16.2 overs with the help of hitting inning of Adam Rossington. Another Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s player and captain Aiden Markram was chosen as Player of the Tournament because of his allrounder performance in bowling and batting at green vanues.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape again won the title after scoring 204-3 in 20 overs with the help of their star batters Tristan Stubbs, Tom Abell, Aiden Markram & a powerful opening start of Jordan Hermann. In second inning, Marco Jansen bowled five of Durban Duper Giants’ wickets and they all got out on 115 runs only. Heinrich Klaasen was Player of the Tournament in the last season of SA20 league.

As SA20 league is again ready to shine with star players from arround the world so here is a look into the squad of every teams and we will choose one star player from each teams.

1. Pretoria Capitals

Squads – Rilee Rossouw (C), Liam Livingstone, Will Smeed, Will Jacks, Tiaan Van Vuuren, Steve Stolk, Marques Ackerman, Senuran Muthusamy, James Neesham, Kyle Simmonds, Migael Pretorius, Keagan Lion Cachet, Rehmanullah Gurbaz, Kyle Verreynne, Anrich Nortje, Daryn Dupavillon, Wayne Parnell and Eathan Bosch.

Star Player – Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone Will be the star player of Pretoria Capitals in this SA20 season because he is too much aggressive batsman and he can hit the ball out of the ground with easiness. He is known for his both side spinning balls and very economical spells.

2. Joburg Super Kings

Faf du Plessis (c), Leus du Plooy, Evan Jones, Sibonelo Makhanya, Moeen Ali, Wihan Lubbe, David Wiese, JP King, Jonny Bairstow, Devon Conway, Donovan Ferreira, Matheesha Pathirana, Tabraiz Shamsi, Gerald Coetzee, Doug Bracewell, Beuran Hendricks, Imran Tahir, Maheesh Theekshana and Hardus Viljoen.

Star Player – Faf du Plessis

Joburg Super Kings’ star player will be his captain Faf du Plessis who has been very smooth throughout his career and he is famous for his ability of building innings and then scoring runs with higher strike rates.

3. Paarl Royals

David Miller (c), Sam Hain, Mitchell Van Buuren, Joe Root, Dewan Marais, Dayyaan Galiem, Dunith Wellalage, Codi Yusuf, Andile Phehlukwayo, Rubin Hermann, Dinesh Karthik, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Keith Dudgeon, Bjorn Fortuin, Eshan Malinga, Kwena Maphaka, Nqabayomzi Peter and Lungi Ngidi.

Star Player – David Miller

Paarl Royals’ captain David Miller is the star player of the season who is famous as ‘Killer Miller’ surname. His hitting sixes ability is always in the eyes of every bowler who is playing against him. He single handedly knows how to snatch any match from the opposite side.

4. MI Cape Town

Rashid Khan (c), Colin Ingram, Dewald Brevis, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Thomas Kaber, George Linde, Delano Potgieter, Corbin Bosch, Azmatullah Omarzai, Connor Esterhuizen, Chris Benjamin, Ryan Rickelton, Trent Boult, Tristan Luus, Dane Piedt, Kagiso Rabada and Nuwan Thushara.

Star Player – Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan is the shining star of spin department in current era and now he is captain of MI Cape Town. His 4 overs spell is enough to destroy other team’s batting line-up.

5. Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Keshav Maharaj (c), Brandon King, Kane Williamson, Jason Smith, Quinton de Kock, Matthew Breetzke, Heinrich Klaasen, JJ Smuts, Marcus Stoinis, Christopher King, Wiaan Mulder, Chris Woakes, Dwaine Pretorius, Prenelan Subrayen, Bryce Parsons, Shamar Joseph, Noor Ahmad, Naveen-ul-Haq and Junior Dala.

Star Player – Heinrich Klaasen

Heinrich Klaasen is the name of fear in current era amongst bowlers especially in shorter format. His hitting sixes with so much ease are enjoyable to everyone but not for the bowlers of opposite teams. He was the second leading run scorer and man of the tournament winner of the last season of SA20 in 2024.
