Conclusion
The ICC Champions Trophy was discontinued after the 2017 edition due to several reasons. One major concern was that having two major ICC tournaments in the same format – the Champions Trophy and the ODI World Cup – didn’t make sense, and fans complained about the repetition of so many ODIs in a fast forward time of 21st century
Additionally, the ICC wanted to focus on a single premier tournament for each format. As a result, the Champions Trophy was put on hold, and the ICC focused on other events like the ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup.
The introduction of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) was another significant factor in the discontinuation of the ICC Champions Trophy. The ICC wanted to create a premier tournament for Test cricket, and the WTC was launched in 2019. With the WTC and the ODI World Cup already in the calendar, the ICC felt that having another major tournament like the Champions Trophy would lead to a crowded international cricket schedule.
By discontinuing the Champions Trophy, the ICC aimed to create a more balanced and manageable schedule for teams, allowing them to focus on the WTC, ODI World Cup, and T20 World Cup.
However, with the WTC now established, the ICC has decided to revive the Champions Trophy, which will return in 2025 with hosting Pakistan with hybrid model for India’s matches at Dubai..
Its amazing, keep doing bro!
